Dr. Eng. KHURSHEEDUL ISLAM



Senior Advisor & Consultant



Dr. Islam is a pioneer in the consulting industry in Bangladesh having set up one of the first management and strategy consulting firms in Dhaka, ARMCO, during the late 1980s. Through ARMCO, Dr. Islam worked on a wide range of transactions, including the setting-up of the first solar village in Bangladesh. He also played a critical role in the launch of virgin cola in the country. Dr. Islam also has significant general consulting expertise in science & technology, manufacturing, consumer retail, and infrastructure projects


By the early 2000s, Dr. Islam became widely acknowledged as the foremost expert in renewal energy resources in the country, which saw him became the senior advisor to the country director at GTZ, the german development agency. While at GTZ, Dr. Islam led several pioneering initiatives in the use of bio-gas to power rural farms and households.


Dr. Islam completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Technical Institute of Clausthal, Germany, through a scholarship fund awarded by the government. Dr. Islam completed his Bachelors and Masters degree from Dhaka University.

MAKSUDUL ISLAM



Founder & Partner



Maksudul Islam is the founding partner of Odin. He specializes in structured finance, alternative investments and real estate. Maksud has a track record in high profile transactions, having worked on multi-million dollar deals (debt/equity/M&A) for global corporates such as Google, JP Morgan, Barclays, and Citigroup as well as development agencies such as CARE Enterprises Inc., Grameen Danone and JITA.


Maksudul is currently a key member of the Frontier Fund, the only private equity fund dedicated to Bangladesh. The Frontier Fund is managed by Brummer & Partners, one of the largest fund managers in Europe with over USD 13 billion of assets under management. Through the Frontier Fund, Maksud has executed landmark private equity deals within the local garments, retail, IT, light manufacturing, automotive and healthcare sectors. In the past year, Maksud has helped the Frontier Fund raise another USD 100 for further private equity investments in Bangladesh. He is also overseeing the Frontier Fund’s existing portfolio companies, advising on matters of corporate governance, financial reporting, IPO filing, as well as environmental & social compliance.


Prior to founding Odin, Maksud spent a decade working in the investment advisory and financial services sectors in New York. During this time, he worked for Ernst & Young in the Company’s transaction Advisory Services group. He also worked at Capitas Group International, a global leader in Islamic finance. Here, he played a key role in the launch of Islamic insurance and commercial loan products for the first time in the US. He also helped the Company expand their operations in the GCC countries in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB). He started his professional career with Blackheath financial, a boutique New York investment advisory firm that provided debt underwriting & valuation support to global investment banks and fund managers.


Maksud completed his bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College in Pennsylvania, double majoring in Economics and Physics.

NOOR TUSHAN



Founder & Partner



Noor Tushan takes a keen interest in promoting development-related goals such as women empowerment, financial inclusion, education and inclusive healthcare, particularly through the use of technology, and access to finance. Noor has palyed a critical role in helping NGO programs articluate fund-raising strategies, business plans, and in some cases, transform into sustainable social enterprises, with good governance practices. On behalf of NGOs and Donors, Noor has also designed in-depth research into development initiatives, quantifying impact on financial inclusion, rural employment and women empowerment.


Noor also brings significant value to private sector businesses, powering growth through technology and human resources development.


Noor Tushan completed his Bachelor’s degree from York University in Toronto Canada, majoring in Economics.takes a He is currently pursuing higher certifications in programming and technology product development.



SAJID AMIT



Partner



Sajid Amit is a director at Odin and also the founder of the Growth Institute (TGI) which provides strategic research and advisory services across a variety of sectors. Sajid's sectors of focus include: ​

Sajid specializes in social research, economic research, policy research, financial research and analysis using a variety of research techniques including face-to-face interviews, online surveys, focus group discussions and participatory research methods.


Sajid's portfolio of research projects include tax incentives studies for ActionAid Bangladesh, survey of social enterprises for British Council Bangladesh, a survey of knowledge, perceptions and attitudes (KAP) among Bangladeshi citizens towards religious extremism for a diplomatic mission in Bangladesh, and several briefer survey-based research assignments for the World Bank, Concern Worldwide, BBC Media Action, Oxfam, and Traidcraft.


Sajid Amit has a BA from Dartmouth College, an MA from the University of London and an MA from Columbia University. Prior to founding TGI, he was a Director and Head of Research at BRAC EPL in Bangladesh, Industry Research Manager at KPMG in India, and an Analyst at Morgan Stanley in New York.



ARBAB AMIN



Founder & Partner



Arbab is a partner at Odin. His role is to engage with potential/new clients, understand their business needs, and develop internal capabilities to support them. He specializes in managing human resources, more specifically through training and motivational initiatives that sustain high levels of performance and employee retention.


Prior to joining Odin, Arbab lead several key initiatives with leading local corporates in the banking, telecom and retail/distribution sectors. He was a key member of a team that led the AMEX Corporate Card launch with City Bank Limited, one of the largest commercial banks in Bangladesh. After leaving City, he joined Telenor’s Grameen Phone, the leading Telecom player in the country. While at Grameen Phone, he develop an Employee Reward System that continues to make a positive impact on employee motivation & retention. Arbab also spent a year leading Corolla Distribution, where he restructured operations, bringing more transparency, accountability and cost-savings to the Company.

TANJIB KHAN



Founder & Partner



Tanjib Khan is a partner at Odin. He has a track record in sales, new business development and corporate strategy. He brings several years of real entrepreneurship experience having started, managed and raised capital for several businesses within a wide range of sectors. As the DMD of his family business in shipping and logistics, Tanjib also brings years of leadership in managing human resources and business processes.


At Odin, Tanjib has been instrumental in leading process innovations, delivering tangible results for Management & Clients. His strategic input has enabled us expand our scope of services, both in outsourcing and consulting. His wide network within the local business community and the government, coupled with his sector experience, makes him a valuable asset to our corporate advisory practice.
